Our mission
To preserve, celebrate, and share Pakistani culture and heritage in Southern California and broader American society, and to build a community where Pakistani American families belong and all of our neighbors feel welcome.
What we believe
- Culture is carried by people. Poetry, music, dress, food, and language survive when families gather and kids take the stage.
- Sharing makes it stronger. Pakistani heritage belongs in San Diego's cultural life, from Balboa Park to classrooms.
- Community means care. We show up for each other in good times and hard ones.
Our story
From PAASAND to House of Pakistan
We began as PAASAND, the Pakistani American Association of San Diego, founded by Tasneem Farooq Rehmani founding year (W-17) to bring San Diego's Pakistani families together. What started with Eid bazaars and Independence Day gatherings grew into concerts, fashion shows, business expos, youth programs, and community relief efforts.
As our work grew beyond one community's gatherings into sharing Pakistani culture with all of San Diego, we became House of Pakistan. It's a name that says what we are: a home for the culture, with the door open to everyone.
Paasand lives on as our community care initiative, carrying forward the social impact work that has always been at our heart: education, women's empowerment, humanitarian support, and local-to-global community engagement.

Where you'll find us
Our cultural events take place at Balboa Park, alongside the international cottages of the House of Pacific Relations, and at venues across San Diego County. VERIFY W-18: HPR relationship wording
